Dr. Fritz Laroche

Fritz Laroche, MD, 85, of Chicago (formerly of Hyde Park), passed away May 16, 2009 at his home. Dr. Laroche was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He received his Doctor of Medicine in Haiti in 1949. He completed training in Pediatrics at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska. He established a private practice limited to infants and children in 1956 in Chicago, IL. He was a mentor at the University of Illinois and enjoyed mentoring and training medical students. His passion was taking care of children. Dr. Laroche's dedication resulted in his being the preferred Pediatrician for many families in the South Side of Chicago, always going beyond the call of duty in dedicating his time. He was affiliated with Children's Memorial Hospital, Michael Reese Hospital, Trinity Advocate Hospital, Provident Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital. He led his life as an example for others to emulate his humility, honesty, integrity and thirst for knowledge.
Dr. Laroche is survived by his wife, Ninette Joseph-Laroche; step-children Marie-Rose (Jonathan) Hagerman, Emmanuella (Anthony Chapple) Joseph MD; grandchildren; sisters Janine Vaval and Irene Laroche; nieces and nephews Gladys Laroche, Ginette Laroche, Jean Robert Laroche, Evelyne Bernadel, Nicole Bernadel, Ernest Bernadel, Pierre Richard Jerome, Dr. Yolene (Claude) Surena, Leslie (Florence) Vaval, Marilyn (Guy) Etienne. He will be missed by countless close friends.
