Wilbert G. Hegener

Wilbert "Will" G. Hegener, beloved husband of Audrey, nee Anderson, died peacefully at home in Northbrook, IL on April 30, 2008, of complications from leukemia. He was 86 years old and is loving remembered by four devoted children, Audrey (Michael) Debish, Christina (the late Robert) Maier, John Adams (Shannon Hackett) and Mary Adams; 15 loving grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children. Born in Petosky, MI to immigrant parents of John Hegener and Anne Marie Mayer, he attended the University of Detroit and served in the U.S. Army in WWII, landing at Normandy. After the war he obtained a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and worked at Rockwell International before joining the Chicago based international engineering consulting firm of Sargent & Lundy, where he worked for more than 30 years as a highly respected associate and partner, supervising the design and engineering of nuclear power plants across the United States and abroad. Will was the cherished brother of Rev. Wilbert N. Hegener, O.F.M., as well as of Joesph (Marge), Dr. Al (Lil), Rev. Mark Hegener, O.F.M. and Mary Rita (Ted) Cotter, all of whom predeceased him. Visitation on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. John Cantius Church, 825 N. Carpenter St., Chicago, IL. 60622, beginning at 10 AM, followed by a Solemn High Tridentine Mass at 11 AM. Interment will take place Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1835 Waukegan Rd., Techny, IL. 60082. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canons Regular of St. John Cantius Church, 825 N. Carpenter St., Chicago, IL. 60622-5499.
